RIPLEY — Erica Alderman scored a goal to lead Woodrow Wilson past Ripley Thursday.

Alex Mahaffey added an assist while keeper Megan Alderman recorded two saves.

Woodrow outshot the Vikings 11 to 4.

The Flying Eagles (8-6-2) play at Princeton at 5 p.m. Tuesday.



St. Joseph’s 3, Oak Hill 1

HUNTINGTON— Sammi Kerwood had Oak Hill’s only goal in the loss. Keeper Amanda Wriston had 13 saves.

Oak Hill (6-5-4) hosts Sissonville at 2 p.m. Saturday.



Middle School Football

Independence 36, Western Greenbrier 0

Justin Saunders ran a kickoff 78 yards with the opening kickoff to set the tone in the Patriots’ win.

Shawn McKinney had a one-yard run and Saunders, who had 158 all-purpose yards, added a 15-yard run.

Ben Cadle caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Ricky Cadle and a 20-yarder from Kyle Belcher.

Belcher had two conversions for Independence and Adam Whitt had another.Casey Blankenship had an interception for the Patriots.

Independence (4-1-1) hosts Beckley-Stratton Thursday at Independence High School. Western Greenbrier (1-5) is at Meadow Bridge.



Summers County 36, Meadow Bridge 0

MEADOW BRIDGE — Jordan Twyman scored three touchdowns to lead the Bobcats.

Twyman returned a kickoff 75 yards for a TD and also found the end zone on runs of 52 and 37 yards. He had 126 yards on five carries.

Ryne Nahodil added a 53-yard run and Justin Pugh scored on a four-yard run for Summers (4-1-1), which hosts Shady Spring next Thursday for homecoming.



Boys Middle School Soccer

Princeton 2, Shady Spring 0

Nick Branson and Casey Hazlewood scored a goal apiece for Princeton. Chase Austin, Casey Hazlewood and Nick Branson all had an assist in the victory.

Shady Spring plays Athens Monday at 6 p.m. Eighthgraders will be recognized.



Middle School Late Wednesday

Beckley-Stratton 4, Winfield 1

Karl Bou-Abboud scored two goals while Ryan Kissinger and Marc Bou-Abboud had one goal each in the win over the Generals.

Beckley-Stratton keeper Pierce Jarrell had one save. Brandon Quick had the lone goal for Winfield

Beckley-Stratton (6-1-2) hosts Princeton Monday.
