Wyoming East 15, James Monroe 5

PINNACLE CREEK — Wyoming East head coach Ron “Chief” Mayhew recorded his 600th victory, downing James Monroe in a 10-run six-inning game Tuesday.

The Warriors pounded out 13 hits as Luke Stevens went 2-for-3, with a double and his team-high eighth home run of the season.

East’s Jeffrey Growe went 3-for-3 and Carlos Whitt produced three RBIs with a pair of doubles.

Class AA No. 3 Wyoming East improved to 19-1.

SUMMERSVILLE — Nicholas County’s G.W. Dodrill recorded 13 strikeouts and hit a grand slam en route to a one-hit win over Richwood.

Wes Persinger added a pair of doubles for the Grizzlies.

Richwood’s Shane Clark had the lone Lumberjacks’ hit .

Nicholas County (10-11) hosts Lewis County at 6 p.m. Thursday.

WELCH — E.J. Pike hurled a one-hitter in the Golden Knights’ victory.

Corey Hale backed Pike by going 2-4 with three runs batted in and Jeremy Hayes went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Adrian Thomas ended it with a solo blast in the fifth.

Brad Blair had the Cubs only hit in the fourth. Pike struck out five and evened his mound mark at 2-2.

Mount View hosts Westside at 5 p.m. today.

Bluefield’s Seth Perry scored two runs.

HUNTINGTON — Dustin Hufrman went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs to lead Class AAA No. 4 Spring Valley past Woodrow Wilson in a Mountain State Coal Classic tournament game.

Lanny Meadows drove in a run and Sean McGuire went 2-for-3 for the 7-11 Flying Eagles, which had two runners thrown out trying to steal third in the first inning.

The Generals captalized on seven Greater Beckley errors and Montcalm’s April Jennings held the Crusaders to only three hits Tuesday at Warren Williams Stadium.
