Summers County 78, PikeView 48

HINTON — Jolysa Brown scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as Class AA No. 1 Summers County breezed to another Pit Row Classic championship.

Emily Blevins added 17 points and Rebecca Newsome 10 for the Bobcats.

Trista Thomas led the Panthers (2-2) with 16 points. Laken Coburn was held to seven points, but surpassed 1,000 for her career.

Pocahontas County defeated Clay County 55-37 in the consolation game.

Summers (4-0) hosts Independence Friday, Dec. 28.

HINTON — Adrienne Nottingham scored 18 points and Jaenna Burns notched 13 as the Warriors took third place in the Pit Row Classic at Summers County High School.

Kachine Jonese added 10 points while Chelsey Gum had 7 rebounds and Madeline Jerome had four steals and four assists.

Sierra Carver paced Clay County (0-3) with 17 points while Kelli Cole had 11.

Pocahontas County (2-2) hosts Greenbrier West Tuesday.



Meadow Bridge 54, Mount Hope 18

MOUNT HOPE — Leah Whitt scored 12 points and had eight rebounds as Meadow Bridge beat its county rival.

Kelly Forren added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Brittany Lusk had seven steals.

Ashley Hannah led the Mustangs (0-3) with six points.

The Wildcats (2-1) visit Valley at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Iaeger 42, Matewan 27

MATEWAN — Kayla Muncy scored 17 points and had nine rebounds to lift the Cubs to their first victory of the season.

Ashley Gibson added 12 points, eight rebounds and five steals to the win, while Danielle McClanahan chipped in 10 boards and four steals.

Rebecca Brumfield paced Matewan (1-3) with eight points.

Iaeger plays at Matewan Tuesday.

PikeView 86, Wyoming East 81

NEW RICHMOND — Jordan Weitzel scored 10 of PikeView’s final 14 points from the foul line in the Panthers’ upset of Class AA No. 3 Wyoming East.

Weitzel and Jay Kelly each scored a game-high 26 points for PikeView, which was 31-of-39 at the line. Shane Coalton added 13 points.

Cory Willard made five of Wyoming East’s 11 three-pointers and finished with 23 points. Gentry Shrewsbury chipped in with 18 points, followed by Evan Muscari with 13 and Adam Repass with 11.

The Warriors (2-1) visit Ravenswood at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.



Poca 74, Westside 59

CLEAR FORK — West Virginia commitment Noah Cottrill scored 25 points to lead the Poca Dots past host Westside.

Blake Smith added 12 points, while Brian Sigman and Matt Orcutt scored 11 apiece.

Eric Bailey made five three-pointers and led Westside (0-2) with a game-high 33 points. Danny Hicks followed with 16.

The Renegades visit Mount View at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
