Through a special event called "Santa's Spay Ride," Operation Underdog is offering 25 free spay or neuter services for cats and dogs during the holiday season.
The last day to enter the contest is Dec. 1.
To enter, participants must: 1. "Like" the Operation Underdog page; 2. Share the Operation Underdog page; 3. Post on the Operation Underdog page what animal you would like to get altered. Feel free to share a picture or tell more about your pet; 4. Be sure to hashtag #Santasspayride and #operationunderdog on your post.
"While this free service is not limited to those within a certain income, we would like to provide it to those who need it the most," the event flier said.
Additional to the complimentary spay/neuter, each animal will be given a rabies vaccine, if needed.
"This is a great opportunity and tremendous benefit to the southern West Virginia pet community," the flier said. "We are doing all that we can to keep the pet overpopulation crisis down in our community and surrounding communities."
Winners will be notified by Dec. 4. The spay/neuter trip will take place on Dec. 11. Participants are asked not to enter the contest if they are unable to bring their pet to the drop off location in Beckley at 6:15 a.m. or pick up at the same location between 5-7 p.m. the same day.
