The University of Charleston-Beckley’s freshman class will host a family fun day, “Games Fur-a-Cause,” from 1 to 4 p.m. March 28 in Van Meter Gym.

Admission for the event will be a donation of cat food, dog food, cat litter, etc., which will be donated to the Humane Society of Raleigh County and Operation Underdog.

“We are trying to make a positive difference in the Beckley area through our community service project for the 2014-15 academic year,” the students said in a release.

The main event will include cornhole games and horse basketball tournaments, and winners will receive prizes.

UC-Beckley students are also asking local businesses or other organizations to consider donating gift cards or coupons for prizes, as well as food items to be sold the day of the event, such as soda or bottled water.
