Only minor injuries were reported in an accident involving an ATV which collided head on with a vehicle on Rock Creek Road Sunday night, according to State Police.

Trooper J.L. Howell said the ATV and the 2001 Kia were both traveling at a slow rate of speed around a curve near Rt. 3 about 5:30 p.m. when the ATV, traveling on the wrong side of the road, collided with the Kia. When Howell arrived on scene, the driver of the ATV and the sole passenger of the Kia, a child, had already been transported to Raleigh General Hospital. Howell did not release the names of the individuals involved. He said the injuries were “nothing life-threatening.”

The driver of the ATV did receive a citation, but Howell did not reveal the nature of the ticket. Howell said both drivers were from the Rock Creek area. Howell said the ATV driver was not wearing a helmet.
