The Monroe County Shriff’s Department has arrested a Monroe County woman for attempted murder, the agency reported in a press release.

Ora Camille Matics, 30, of Glen Ray, was charged for her part in an incident that almost took the life of another woman, police said.

On Jan. 13, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, West Virginia State Police and Alderson Police responded to a call reporting an unresponsive woman at a residence east of Alderson, Sheriff Mike Gravely said in the release.

Chloe May Cecchini, 52, of Alderson, was transported by ambulance to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center with symptoms of asphyxia, police said.

Medical staff removed a fabric-like substance from Cecchini’s throat upon arrival to the emergency room, narrowly saving her life, Gravely said.

Police believe Matics and Cecchini were involved in an altercation stemming from a dispute in the days prior to the incident, he said.

Matics is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $26,000 bond.

Deputy J.I. Redifer is leading the investigation and is assisted by Deputy M.L. Bradley. West Virginia State Troopers J.R. Baker and J.W. Davis Jr., Alderson Police Chief J.W. Bennett and members of the Alderson Fire and Rescue Department assisted the sheriff’s department.
