The Central West Virginia Drug Task Force served multiple felony and misdemeanor arrests warrants Tuesday in Nicholas County, authorities said.

The task force, consisting of the State Police, Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department and Summersville Police Department, received assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the state Division of Natural Resources.

Twenty of 27 people sought were arrested Tuesday, State Police Sgt. Bill Scott said. Eighteen were arrested on 50 felony charges of distribution of narcotics and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The drug-related charges consisted of possession and distribution of methamphetamine, heroin, oxycodone and marijuana.

Several teams of law enforcement officers targeted areas all over Nicholas County and arrested seven females and 13 males as young as 20 and as old as 71, Scott said. Two people were found to be incarcerated at Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville and warrants will be served there. One person with four felony drug charges was still at-large.

Two other people were arrested on misdemeanor warrants for possession of substance to manufacture meth-amphetamine, Scott said. During one of these arrests, a meth lab was found in the Mount Nebo area at the residence of Zachary Senopole, in which additional charges will be filed.

Six other people were still being sought on charges under a new state law designed to curtail the manufacturing of meth labs by limiting the purchases of “behind the counter” drugs that contain ingredients known to be used to make meth, Scott said.
