A new partner has joined Mac’s Toy Fund to help provide a warm and happy holiday for needy children in Raleigh County.

Faith Community Church and Beckley Renaissance are collecting gloves, mittens, hats and scarves to distribute at the Dec. 18 Mac’s distribution party.

Items can be dropped off at Faith’s service at the Raleigh County Convention Center this Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon, or they can be placed in a collection box at Beckley City Hall Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The church and Beckley Renaissance are joined by Shady Spring High School cheerleaders in ensuring that Mac’s kids stay warm this winter. The cheerleaders are collecting coats through Dec. 16.

Coat drop-offs are at Chateaux Interiors, Beckley; Kroger at Beaver, Harper Road and Beckley Crossing; CVS, Beaver; Walgreens, Beaver; Big Lots, Beckley; Chick-fil-A at Beckley Galleria; Family Coin Laundry, Beckley; The Register-Herald; Raleigh General Hospital; Starbucks; Food Lion at Cranberry Creek; and all Shady Spring schools.

Also needed for the distribution are used toys, bicycles and dolls.

Drop off used toys at BJW Printing on Robert C. Byrd Drive or at Beckley Newspapers, 801 N. Kanawha St.

Bikes can be dropped off behind Beckley Fire Station No. 3 on Eisenhower Drive or behind the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

Dolls of all kinds can be dropped off at behind The Place at United Methodist Temple, or they can be placed with other toy donations at BJW Printing. Barbie dolls can be delivered to Kelli White at WorkForce WV in the Ollie’s Shopping Center or by calling 304-673-1539.

Monetary donations are needed to pay for the costs of the party — toys, fruit, rent and the like. Mac’s Toy Fund, now in its 80th year, has no administrative costs. Send donations to Mac’s Toy Fund, P.O. Box 2398, Beckley, WV 25802; donations are tax-deductible.
