Beckley police say they discovered cocaine and marijuana at two different residences Thursday while executing search warrants as part of an investigation into a Monday night shooting incident.

No one was injured when a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria was hit with bullets 12 times while parked in front of an apartment complex at the intersection of Gadd Avenue and Ninth Street, according to Detective Cpl. Jamie Blume.

Information obtained from witnesses led police to execute search warrants at residences on Truman Street and Washington Street where drugs were located, Capt. Jeff Shumate, chief of detectives, said.

Also, Shumate said, evidence believed to be related to the shooting was recovered from the house on Washington Street.

No arrests were made and the drugs were turned over to the narcotics unit for further investigation.

Blume said the shooting investigation is ongoing and arrests may be pending.

The search warrants were executed by the detective bureau, narcotics unit and road patrol officers.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 304-255-7867.
