Voters in southern West Virginia have the opportunity Tuesday to choose a slate of candidates who have pledged to fight any effort at confiscating more of their constituents’ hard-earned pay through tax increases, according to Americans for Tax Reform.

The non-partisan organization strongly supports the concept of a single rate, or flat tax, and works to reduce the number of times the same money is taxed.

In the hotly contested 9th District Senate race, Stephen Wayne Snuffer, Sally Susman and incumbent Sen. Russ Weeks all made the grade.

Jack Fincham received the group’s endorsement in his bid for a seat in the 22nd District of the House of Delegates, while challenger William R. Sulesky and incumbent Tom Louisos signed the pledge in the 29th District.

As they battle for re-election in the 27th District, Linda Sumner and Ron Thompson were awarded high marks as opponents of tax increases. Incumbent Sam Argento was endorsed by ATR in his effort to continue representing the 35th District in Nicholas County.

With the exceptions of Snuffer, Sumner and Weeks, the other candidates are all Democrats.
