Recorder Betty Thomas also scored a landslide victory, turning away Citizens’ Party candidate Judy Hoover 174 to 82.

Re-elected to town council were Charlie Lobban with 186 votes, Ann Eskins with 183, Becky Keadle 164, E. Sterling “Tod” Hanger Jr. 152 and Doris Kasley 151.

Coming closest to the winners’ list from the Citizens’ Party was Richard (Rick) Parker, who captured 110 votes. Others running on that ticket were T. (Travis) Barkley with 88 votes, Bobby Hoover 78, Ernest N. Wiley Jr. 66 and Austin Nichols 65.
