A local theater group, Ars Creo, will present its seventh original musical, "The Heart of the Forest," next month in Hinton.
Performances, which are free and open to the public, will be held Aug. 7-8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Summers County Memorial Building.
Ars Creo, a group comprised entirely of volunteers dedicated to the art of theater, seeks to serve as a creative outlet for those in the community and surrounding communities.
This year's musical tells the story of a girl who challenges an ancient law by trespassing among a gathering of animals who have the ability to change their shapes.
"The Heart of the Forest" will feature live music, and is produced entirely by the Ars Creo cast and crew.
The musical is directed by Briana Gunter, written by Ashleigh Gill, and composed and conducted by Zack Merritt. The set is designed by Carol Jackson and Chris Clark.
Ars Creo co-founders Zack Merritt and Ashleigh Gill say of the group's productions, "It's not just about producing an amazing show; it's about teaching people that they can create something that is of worth for the community at large."
