A Beckley man was arrested Thursday after he was captured on video abusing a dog.

Raleigh County Sheriff's deputies arrested arrested Jerry Hommey III after he shown on video kicking the dog, dragging it by its neck, picking it up and throwing it to the ground, then dragging it some more before hooking it on a chain.

After the video was provided to deputies, a warrant was obtained charging Hommey with animal cruelty. Deputies then discovered he had warrants on file for other crimes.

Lt. M.A. McCray said Hommey had warrants on file for providing false information to a police officer and obtaining information under false pretenses.

Sgt. R.L. Bircham arrested Hommey and served the additional warrants. According to the Southern Regional Jail website, no bond has been set.

Raleigh County Animal Control took custody of the dog.
