The City of Beckley is set to host its first ever pride month celebration on Saturday at the Beckley Intermodal Gateway.

From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., attendees can enjoy a drag show, live music and inspirational speakers. The celebration, which will feature a "kids' corner" with a magician and bounce houses, is a family event that is free to all.

Beckley Pride president Christina Baisden said she looks forward to seeing everyone enjoy a safe space for all citizens.

"This is history in the making," Baisden said. "We haven't been able to have a display like this in Beckley where all have felt included."

In addition to more than 55 vendors set to attend, 300 free picnic lunches will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Pizza will also be sold at the event.
