Twin Falls conference room work completed

Twin Falls Resort State Park’s Azalea Room, the largest conference room on the park, will re-open Dec. 1, Scott Durham, park superintendent, said.

“We’ll return to normal operations on that day,” Durham said.

The size of the conference room has been increased by about a third of its original size, the superintendent explained.

With the renovations, the room can now serve between 90 and 110 people, depending on how the chairs are set up.

Renovations of the Azalea Room are part of an $8 million expansion of the park’s lodge facilities. The project also includes 28 new, spacious rooms on three floors, bringing the total lodge number to 48, along with a new indoor pool, a small fitness area, and a small spa.

“We’ll still have temporary access, a temporary sidewalk and no handicap access until the project is complete,” Durham said, “but that’s only short term.”

The remainder of the project should be complete by late spring.

“We’re excited about this,” Durham emphasized. “This gets us back to where we can serve our guests as before. We won’t feel like we’re limping along, this puts us back on two legs.”

The Wyoming County Economic Development Authority is the first agency, thus far, to book use of the new conference facilities.

“That could change,” Durham said, “because we have a few days in early December that are still open.”

Durham said he and his staff want to encourage local residents to visit the park and make use of the facilities.

The park has remained open during the year-long renovation project, offering the park’s well-known peaceful surroundings and scenic beauty, camp sites, lodge rooms and cabins, golf, hiking trails, restaurant, gift shop, and pioneer homestead, among other activities.
