n Middle school championships: Shady Spring’s girls, who defeated Park 29-20 on Monday, will play the Eastern Greenbrier girls, 24-20 winners over Fayetteville Monday, in the middle school girls championship game today at 1:15 p.m.
Park, a 36-20 winner over Shady Spring, will play Eastern Greenbrier, a 55-23 winner over Collins, in the boys middle school championship at 2:30 p.m. Park’s Isaiah Francis scored more than 30 points in the win over Shady.
n Consolation games: The Class A consolation game will pit Moorefield up against Valley at 3:45 p.m., and the Class AA consolation will follow with Westside, which fell to Bluefield 67-54 Monday, taking on Wyoming East, which fell to Robert C. Byrd 65-58 on Tuesday.
n National contest: Oak Hill Academy, ranked No. 15 in the country, and Montrose Christian will battle in a showcase of top teams from around the country tonight at 7:20 p.m.
Oak Hill Academy has six players — Sindarius Thornwell (South Carolina), Troy Williams (Indiana), Nate Britt (North Carolina), Ikenna Iroegbu (Washington State), R.J. Curington (interest from Baylor, Clemson, Illinois, Virginia and others) and Lennard Freeman (interest from N.C. State and others) — expected to play major college basketball next season.
Montrose Christian is led by Ishmail Wainright, who committed to Baylor over Ohio State and Texas.
n Class A championship: Class A No. 14 Tygarts Valley, which defeated No. 9 Valley 59-57 Monday night, will take on No. 10 Greenbrier West, a 66-61 winner over Moorefield Tuesday, in the Class A title game. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m.
