Two of the Mountain State’s most recognizable football figures are teaming up to provide insight on the game they love to fans across the state over the radio airwaves.
Former West Virginia University head coach Don Nehlen and former Marshall University head coach Bob Pruett will debut a new radio show this Monday on the MetroNews Radio Network. The Don Nehlen and Bob Pruett Show will air each Monday night through Nov. 25 from 7:06 p.m. until 8 p.m., on affiliates throughout the state, including WJLS in Beckley.
“I think our listeners will be surprised at how relevant the comments of Don and Bob will be to football today,” said Dave Weekley, who will serve as the host of the show. “This just won’t be a nostalgia show.”
Nehlen will provide perspective on WVU and the Big 12, while Pruett, a Beckley native and Woodrow Wilson High School graduate, will discuss Marshall and Conference USA. The two will also talk about other news around college football and field calls from listeners.
The two coaches have impressive credentials within the sport. Nehlen won more games than any coach in Mountaineer football history, including leading WVU to a pair of undefeated seasons in 1988 and 1993. He’s a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Pruett led the Thundering Herd to 94 wins in nine seasons, including an NCAA Division I-AA national championship in 1996. He was named the national coach of the year that season.
