New River Community and Technical College has announced the schedule for public forums with the two finalists for the presidency of the college.
The finalists are Dr. Debra Teachman, vice president for academic affairs at New Mexico University Alamogordo, and Dr. L. Marshall Washington, vice president of the Lancaster Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College in Pennsylvania.
Each finalist will participate in a series of public forums that are open to faculty, administrators, staff, students and the public. There will be a brief introduction of each candidate followed by a question and answer session.
Comment forms will be given to all who attend and the completed comment forms will be collected at the end of each forum and given to the New River Board of Governors for review.
The schedule of forums is: Dr. Debra Teachman: Tuesday, 9 to 10 a.m., Hollowell Auditorium, Greenbrier Valley Campus; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classroom 205, Mercer County Campus, Princeton; 2:15 to 3:15 p.m., T302, Advanced Technology Center, Ghent; Wednesday, 9 to 10 a.m., Student Commons, Nicholas County Campus; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., C-9, Beckley Campus
Dr. L. Marshall Washington: Thursday, 10 to 11 a.m., Hollowell Auditorium, Greenbrier Valley Campus; 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Classroom 205, Mercer County Campus, Princeton; 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., T302, Advanced Technology Center, Ghent; Friday, 9 to 10 a.m., Student Commons, Nicholas County Campus; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., C9, Beckley Campus
The successful candidate will replace Dr. Ted D. Spring, who left New River in early November to become president of Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, N.C. Dr. Merle Dempsey is serving as interim president until the new president is hired.
