Marsh Fork Elementary opens

Marsh Fork Elementary School students played, learned and laughed Monday for the first time in their new multimillion-dollar school. Above, physical education teacher Dennis Dye, far right, instructs students in a parachute game, a game equally as colorful as their new school. In addition to the school’s eco-friendly and technology-infused aspects, the school bears the orange and black of the area’s old Marsh Fork High School and is an emblem of community pride. The state-of-the-art facility is the finished project funded by diverse groups including the Raleigh County Board of Education; Alpha Natural Resources (formerly Massey Energy); Annenberg Foundation; the School Building Authority of West Virginia; and Pennies of Promise, Coal River Mountain Watch.
