Shooting victim in critical condition

A 20-year-old man remains in “extremely critical” condition after he was shot once in the head Monday night, according to Beckley Police.

Sgt. David Allard said police received reports Monday about 9:30 p.m. of shots fired at Hartley Avenue and Hunter Street.

Upon arrival, police located a the victim and he was transported to a local hospital, but was later transferred to a Charleston hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Allard said multiple shots were fired and police are still looking for more information about this incident.

He said police are working several leads, but they urge anyone with additional information to contact Beckley Police at 304-256-1720 or Crime Stoppers at 304-255-STOP.
