Miss North Eastern Spenser Wempe is crowned Miss West Virginia 2011 during the Miss West Virginia Pageant at The Greenbrier resort Friday.

The Miss West Virginia Pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss America Scholarship Program.

The goal of the Miss West Virginia Organization is to promote the education of young women ages 17-24 by providing educational scholarships. More than $40,000 in cash and $100,000 in in-kind scholarships are made available annually at the state and local levels.

    Four bodies recovered from a wooded area in Nicholas County near Carl, off Brushy Meadow Creek Road, Saturday are believed to be a missing family from Rainelle, reported First Sgt. Michael Baylous, public information officer for the West Virginia State Police.
