National search underway for new CEO at Raleigh General

LifePoint says current CEO Allen Peters leaving post for health-related reasons

BECKLEY —

Raleigh General Hospital announced Friday in a press release that a national search is underway to recruit a new chief executive officer to replace Allen E. Peters who has left the position for health-related reasons.

“We are grateful to Allen for his significant contributions to LifePoint and to RGH during his tenure as CEO,” said Robert Klein, president of LifePoint Hospitals' United Division. “He has been instrumental in preparing the hospital for changes related to health reform and positioning the hospital for future success.”

Peters came to RGH in August 2011 after serving as CEO of Valley View Medical Center in Ft. Mohave, Ariz.

The RGH Board of Trustees will be involved in the interview and selection process to recruit the new CEO, the release stated.

“We are confident that we will find the right person to lead the hospital in the future and that the leadership transition will be a smooth one,” said Mike Darby, chair of RGH Board of Trustees. “We appreciate Allen's service to our hospital and community and wish him the best moving forward.”
