Bigger, badder Fright Night on tap

The 3rd annual Resort at Glade Springs Fright Night is gearing up to scare the yell out of you with this year’s theme — Zombie Apocalypse.

Visitors to the resort on Oct. 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 from dusk until 10:30 p.m. will see a bigger and badder Fright Night than ever before.

Ashley Davis, creative director of the resort, explained that for $15 per person, patrons can take part in the Zombie Hunt Laser Tag, find their way in the zombie infested haunted trail, and take part in the 3D haunted house.

Other attractions each Fright Night will be Halloween hayrides and carriage rides.  Family friendly, the hayride offers an exciting opportunity to view over 50 decorated homes in an exciting outdoor environment.  These rides cost $5 per person and will run continuously each night of Fright Nights.

On October 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. the resort will host a Trick or Treat event in a no-scare zone.  Parents and children will be able to experience the haunted trail and all of the new features of the haunted trail in a milder environment. Friendly monsters will hand out treats, so be sure to bring a treat bag, said Davis. The cost per adult and child is $5 per person.

On October 19 and 20 celebrity makeup artist R.J. Haddy, finalist on SyFy’s competition/ elimination TV show Face Off will be on hand to stylize zombies and take pictures and sign autographs with guests entering the haunted trail from 7 to 10 p.m.

Parking passes will be provided at the front gate and tickets will be sold on site at Small Talk Café from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the United Way of Southern West Virginia.

In 2011, Davis said The Resort at Glade Springs donated $1,700 to the United Way and expects the amount to increase significantly in 2012.

“Our goal is to invest more and more each year to make Fright Night bigger and bigger. It takes years to grow an event like this, but last year we had more than 1,000 people and we are expecting more than that with our laser tag,” said Davis.

Remember to dress warmly and wear closed-toe shoes to the event.
