Firefighter injured in blaze at PPG Industries facility

NATRIUM — One firefighter was injured in a blaze at PPG Industries’ Natrium facility.

Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Tom Hart says the fire was reported around 6:45 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters from three localities helped the on-site PPG fire brigade extinguish the fire, which temporarily shut down a portion of W.Va. 2.

Hart told The Intelligencer and Wheeling News Register that one firefighter had difficulty breathing and was taken to a hospital, where he was kept overnight for observation and released Sunday morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
