CHARLESTON — Residents in storm-ravaged areas of Virginia and West Virginia were urged to use extreme caution while traveling — or just stay indoors — as highway crews continued working to clear snow from roads.
As some residents ventured out to Super Bowl parties, officials warned roads would likely refreeze Sunday night. To assist road crews, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has ordered state offices in northern Virginia closed today while state offices in Richmond won’t open until 10 a.m.
Just as residents were digging out from 3 feet of snow in parts of Virginia and 32 inches in Keyser, W.Va., the National Weather Service is warning of another approaching storm. The weather service says up 5 inches of new snow is possible in parts of both states Tuesday and Wednesday.
