Eight expelled for threats that closed W.Va. school

KEYSER — Eight students implicated in bomb threats that disrupted classes at a Keyser school for four days have been expelled.

The Mineral County Board of Education expelled the students for a year Tuesday evening.

Superintendent Skip Hackworth says two other students remain under investigation.

Those expelled were a sixth-grade boy, two eighth-grade boys, three seventh-grade boys and two seventh-grade girls. They weren’t identified because they’re juveniles.

A series of bomb threats at Keyser Primary-Middle School disrupted classes and prompted police searches earlier this month.

A bomb threat at Keyser High School canceled a basketball game.

Backpacks were banned at both schools because of the threats.
