PARSONS — A forensic anthropologist says the person buried near the home of a woman who disappeared seven years ago had been severely beaten.
At a preliminary hearing for the man charged with concealing that body, Douglas Owsley of the Smithsonian Institution said the victim had skull fractures, broken ribs and a broken collar bone.
Owsley says the victim has not yet been identified.
The remains were found under an outbuilding behind the home of 35-year-old Bonnie Woods-Cale, who vanished in March 2002.
Her husband, 42-year-old Wesley Scott Cale of Parsons, is charged with concealing a body. He was being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
State Police say Cale’s son reported seeing his half brother digging where the remains were found.
