BLUEFIELD — An attempt to impose new restrictions on video lottery parlors in Bluefield has failed.
City board members declined on Tuesday to approve an ordinance that would have banned gambling parlors within 1,000 feet of churches, schools, residences or any business with a liquor license.
The board didn’t vote on the measure, but allowed it to die by not offering a motion to approve it.
Board member Pete Sternloff says the ordinance would have essentially prohibited any new lottery parlors from opening in Bluefield.
