Bridge reopens to traffic
Fairmont residents aren’t complaining about the Fourth Street Bridge’s return to a brick surface.
The bridge reopened Thursday after being closed March 5 for repairs. The city removed an asphalt surface that was pitted with huge potholes.
Councilman Chuck Warner says the city covered the bricks with asphalt years ago because residents complained that the bricks were rough.
Compared to the potholes, Warner says driving on bricks is a relief.
