West Virginia tax commissioner plans to resign March 31

CHARLESTON — West Virginia Tax Commissioner Christopher Morris is stepping down to work in the private sector.

Gov. Joe Manchin announced Morris’ resignation on Thursday.

Morris joined the Department of Revenue in 2001 and served in various capacities, including deputy cabinet secretary and deputy tax commissioner.

Manchin appointed him tax commissioner in 2007.

Morris’ last day is March 31.

Deputy Tax Commissioner Craig Griffith will serve as acting tax commissioner.
