MORGANTOWN —
A new report from West Virginia University predicts job growth in the greater Morgantown area will rebound this year.
The Bureau of Business and Economic Research said Thursday that Morgantown has endured the recession better than most places, and job growth is likely to outpace the state and the nation.
Local job growth is predicted to average 1.7 percent per year between 2009 and 2014.
That’s better than the statewide prediction of less than 1 percent per year, and better than the national projection of 1.5 percent per year.
Morgantown’s growth will likely be strongest in service sectors including health care, leisure and hospitality, and transportation and utilities.
But local recovery is linked to the improvement of the national economy.
