Canaan Valley finishes new lodge

DAVIS — Officials are celebrating the completion of a new lodge at Canaan Valley Resort State Park.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and others are set to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday afternoon in Davis.

Director of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Frank Jezioro says the new facilities replace the nearly four-decade-old lodge structures at the park.

Officials say the $34 million renovation project includes 160 guestrooms, a new lobby and conference space. Construction has taken more than two years and includes the complete retro-fitting of the lodge.

Canaan Valley Resort offers a variety of accommodations including new guestrooms and suites, cottage rentals and paved campsites.

The resort also features an array of activities for all seasons, including skiing, target shooting, swimming, hiking, and golf.
