BECKLEY — The Tamarack Foundation will host a special chamber music concert by the National Symphony Orchestra on April 11.
The National Symphony Orchestra is serving a residency in West Virginia, and the concert at the Tamarack Conference Center and Theatre will be a benefit for the Tamarack Foundation.
“We’re so grateful to West Virginia Division of Culture and History Commissioner Randall Reid-Smith in his work to recruit the National Symphony Orchestra to tour West Virginia,” Tamarack Foundation Executive Director Sally N. Barton said Tuesday.
“He’s aware of the foundation, and in courting them, as it were, and showing them around West Virginia he brought them to Tamarack. They were very eager to have a chamber music performance here,” Barton said.
Prior to the concert, there will be a 5:30 p.m. limited-seating dinner, featuring a menu by Chef Jamie Henderson and wine pairings by Dr. C. Richard Daniel of Daniel Vineyards.
“Since it’s a 7 p.m. concert, we thought it would be great to have a gourmet dinner before the performance,” Barton said. “Dr. Daniel will talk about his award-winning wines during the dinner, followed by the musical performance. Dessert will be served afterwards, with the opportunity to meet the performers.”
The concert dinner menu will feature pan-fried rainbow trout in vol-au-vent with foraged mushrooms and sweet pea butter, served with Daniel Vineyards’ Chardonel; Greenbrier County chevre encrusted with toasted pine nuts, with baby greens, navel orange wedges and truffle vinaigrette, served with Daniel’s Vineyards’ Pink; and espresso-dusted filet of beef with wilted watercress and baby spinach, smoked bacon lardons, potatoes served in pommes frites style and natural jus, served with Daniel Vineyards’ St. Vincent.
Tickets for the concert will be $20 per person. Tickets for the dinner and concert will be $60 per person.
