Cause sought for fatal weekend fire

INWOOD (AP) — Authorities are investigating a weekend house fire in Inwood that killed a man and injured a woman.

Assistant State Fire Marshal George Harms reported to The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Maryland, that a brother and a sister lived in the wood-frame house but he couldn’t say whether they were the victims.

Harms says the woman was taken to Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg. Her condition wasn’t available.

The fire occurred Saturday night. The cause hasn’t been determined.


Child killed, 3 injured in camper fire

ALMA (AP) — A camper fire in Tyler County has killed a child and injured three other people.

Tyler County Sheriff Bob Kendle tells WTRF-TV  that the fire was reported around 1:05 a.m. Monday near Alma.

Emergency responders found the child’s body in the camper after the fire was extinguished.

The other victims were taken to West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh. Their conditions weren’t known.

The victims’ names haven’t been released.

The fire is under investigation.
