Caution urged by attorney general when shopping online

CHARLESTON — West Virginians are being urged to use caution when shopping online this holiday season.

Before buying merchandise online, Attorney General Patrick Morrisey says consumers should be mindful of safe practices for shopping online. That includes shopping at secure websites, knowing the company you’re ordering from, reading privacy policies and other conditions, use a credit card, and always print and save receipts.

Morrisey also said anyone who feels they’ve been scammed while shopping online, is encouraged to call the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division at 800-368-8808.
