CHARLESTON —
Another technical error has prompted Gov. Joe Manchin to veto a recently passed bill, this one addressing private game farms.
The legislation proposed a new misdemeanor when someone kills or injures a game farm animal without the owner’s permission.
Thursday’s veto message said the final bill’s title failed to mention it would create a new crime, as required.
A unanimous Senate passed the bill late last month. The House followed suit 96-1 last week.
A title flaw in a bill continuing a waste management fee triggered a Manchin veto on Wednesday.
The Legislature passed 218 bills before the 60-day regular session ended Saturday. Lawmakers are in extended session to complete a new state budget, and could remedy vetoed bills before adjourning.
