CHARLESTON —
Yeager Airport officials are planning a reception to celebrate new nonstop service between Charleston and Chicago.
Airport spokesman Rick Atkinson said officials with American Eagle as well as members of the state’s congressional delegation have been invited to Thursday’s reception at the University of Charleston.
The regional carrier for American Airlines plans to offer two daily flights from Yeager to O’Hare International Airport beginning April 6.
Atkinson said those flights will complement service United Express now provides between the two cities.
Sen. Jay Rockefeller says the new service will create more competition that is essential to maintaining affordable fares.
