ELKINS — Sisters Jolysa and Sierra Brown combined for 50 points and 21 rebounds as Concord University opened WVIAC play with a 92-81 road victory at Davis & Elkins.
Jolysa Brown, the 2008 West Virginia high school player of the year, poured in a career-best 32 points on 12 of 13 shooting. She was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul stripe.
Sierra Brown, the Mountain Lions’ sole senior, pitched in with 18 points and added 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Concord (3-0, 1-0) started the game with a 19-1 run.
“We got out of the gates fast,” coach Kenny Osborne said. “We had great ball movement and kept our momentum going.”
Concord led 48-26 at intermission and stretched the lead to as many as 35 before a late barrage of D&E; three-pointers.
Sydney Lindsey scored in 22 points before fouling out for the Lady Lions. Camisha Alexander gave CU a fourth starter in double figures, finishing with 10 points.
D&E; (1-1, 0-1) was led by freshman Shalisa Hill's 27 points. Lindsay Holliday connected on five three-pointers and finished with 17 points.
Concord plays Dec. 1 at Alderson-Broaddus.
