Charleston is the West Virginia Conference’s lone unbeaten squad. The Golden Eagles’ seven-game win streak is the longest for the school since resuming football in 2003.
West Liberty, which is also unbeaten in WVIAC play, has a six-game winning streak that marks the longest for the Hilltoppers in 30 seasons.

WVIAC squads finished Week No. 7 of the regular season with a 10-11 record against non-league foes in 2009, including a 7-7 mark versus Division II opponents.
As has been the case in recent seasons, home-field advantage has not shown to be a significant advantage by the numbers in WVIAC play. Visiting squads own an 11-9 mark so far in conference action. Home teams were 19-17 in WVIAC league games during 2008.

West Liberty quarterback Zach Amedro is now one of only five WVIAC quarterbacks to reach the 8,000-yard career passing milestone after throwing for 337 yards in Saturday’s win over West Virginia State. Amedro has thrown for 8,267 yards in his career as a Hilltopper.
West Liberty’s Kevon Calhoun has six 100-plus yards efforts in 2009 after rambling for 157 yards on Saturday. Concord’s Brian Kennedy has four 100-yard plus efforts and his 220 yards versus Glenville State marked a league season-high.
Concord’s Thomas Mayo is the only WVIAC player with five 100-yard receiving outputs this season. Additionally, Mayo’s two efforts with 200 or more yards are the only 200-yard plus performances by a WVIAC receiver in 2009.

Glenville State’s comeback from a 27-0 deficit to down Concord 28-27 is the largest in the WVIAC since the 2000 season. The Pioneers completed their comeback in the final 21 minutes of the contest.

Saturday’s combined 102 points in the Charleston-Seton Hill shootout marked only the second time that a contest featuring two league squads reached triple digits for points. The record is the 113 points that kept scoreboard operators busy in November 2007 when West Liberty raced past Seton Hill 70-43.
