Cougars to host Voorhees tonight

With its No. 1 ranking likely to disappear today, Mountain State University will be back in action tonight in Beckley.

The Cougars (14-2) host Voorhees College (S.C.) at 7 p.m. at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

MSU, the unanimous No. 1 in NAIA Division I last week, is coming off Saturday’s 96-91 loss to unranked WVU Tech. It was the Cougars’ first home loss since last season.

Seven players are scoring in double figures for MSU, led by junior Andrew Lee at 16.6 points per game. Senior A.J. Pigram is next at 15.6 and junior Bo Harris averages 14.2.

Sophomore Nick Aldridge checks in at 12.2, senior Tony Brown is at 11.6, senior Marcus Hunter 10.6 and senior Ermin Tarcin 10.3.

Voorhees (5-7) has three seniors averaging double figures. They are Herbert King (18.0), Jerrell Wilburn (16.0) and Derrick Williams (11.0).

After tonight’s game, the Cougars host Ohio State-Marion on Thursday in the college division of the Mountain State Coal Classic. The game will tip at 7 p.m.
