LOUISVILLE, Ky. — For the second time this season, Mountain State University has captured three Player of the Week awards from the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Michel Hiza, a 5-foot-10 junior defender from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, is the KIAC men’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Hiza scored his first goal of the season and also had an assist in a 4-0 win over Averett College.
Teammate Roberto Clearveaux, a 6-foot freshman goalkeeper from Boynton Beach, Fla., earned men’s Defensive Player of the Week honors for making seven saves in the shutout over Averett.
Clearvaux has not allowed a goal in the last 405 minutes for the 11-4 Cougars, the conference’s regular season champions.
MSU’s Jennifer Basher, a 5-11 senior outside hitter from Orlando, Fla., is the KIAC Volleyball Player of the Week.
Basher had 35 kills and 35 digs in four matches last week, including 11 kills and six digs against Brescia University.
Junior defender Katie Arsenault of Midway College is the conference’s Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Arsenault led Midway to a shutout of Asbury College.
