Mountain State shoots past Va. Intermont 99-65

BRISTOL, Va. — Mountain State University took care of the basketball and Virginia Intermont did not.

Ballgame.

Six players scored in double figures for MSU, led by Andrew Lee’s 19, in a 99-65 win over the Cobras Tuesday at Virginia High School.

The Cougars (10-1) benefited from 26 turnovers by Intermont (2-12). Mountain State gave up the ball just seven times.

MSU took advantage, shooting 39-of-77 (50.6 percent) from the floor.

“We were efficient on offense the entire game,” coach Bob Bolen said.

In addition to his 19 points, Lee also had four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Anthony Pigram added 16 points, Marcus Hunter 14, Bo Harris 13, Nick Aldridge 12 and Ermin Tarcin 11. Greg Grimes grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

The Cougars outscored Intermont 54-34 after the break.

“We came out in the second half and played great defense,” Bolen said. “Really intense.”

Akeem Price led the Cobras with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

MSU returns to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center on Saturday to take on Lindsey-Wilson. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
