GIRLS PREP BASKETBALL

Westside 90, Mount View 23

CLEAR FORK — Cheyanna Lusk scored 19 points and Kyleisha Kirkendell added 16 as the Class AA No. 9 Renegades rolled to a big win Thursday night.

Emily Strother had five steals and Ashley Stepp five assists.

Twelve players scored for Westside (2-0).

Kanifha Cleage had eight points to pace Mount View.

Westside is at Midland Trail tonight.



Independence 38, Greenbrier West 37

Carli McQuain scored 12 points to lead Greenbrier West to a come-from-behind victory.

Kayla Pysz led Independence with a game-high 16 points.

Independence (1-1) hosts Liberty at 6 p.m. today while Greenbrier (1-1) is at Fayetteville on Tuesday.



Capital 61, Valley 31

SMITHERS — Keriona Jemison scored 18 poits amd Kachona Harris had 12 as unbeaten Capital won the championship game of the Greyhound Kickoff Classic.

Valley (1-1) got 11 points from Bobbi Dyer. The Greyhounds host Teays Valley Christian on Monday.



Fayetteville 74, Mount Hope 21

Fayetteville evened its record at 1-1 Thursday by cruising past Mount Hope in the consolation game of the Greyhound Classic at Smithers.

The Pirates got strong performances from Stephanie Nickell (25 points, four steals and six assists) and Cayla Rhodes (25 points and nine rebounds) in posting the win. Beth Murphy contributed seven points and eight boards to the Fayetteville cause.

The Mustangs (0-2) were led by Cindy Hillberry’s six points.

Capital and Valley met in the championship game.

Fayetteville visits Oak Hill tonight.



BOYS PREP BASKETBALL

Woodrow scrimmages Logan today

The Class AAA defending state champion Woodrow Wilson’s boys basketball team will scrimmage Logan today at the school gym.

Game times are 6 p.m. for the junior varsity and 7:30 p.m. for the varsity.
