Nothing went Mountain State University’s way in two weekend road trip losses.
The Cougars fell 4-1 Saturday at Tennessee Wesleyan after losing two players on red cards.
Freshman Alex Cottle scored in the 50th minute for MSU, but couldn’t offset three first-half goals by Tennessee Wesleyan’s Carl Deno.
MSU failed to hold an early lead against Brescia (Ky.) Sunday, falling 3-1.
Max Bendig scored off a rebound to put the Cougars up in the 15th minute. MSU dominated the half, holding a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal.
It was a different matter in the second half, as Brescia roared back with two goals from Andy Barnes off Daniel Janiak assists.
Barnes returned the favor, passing to Janiak for the third goal as Brescia captured the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.
MSU (9-5-2) hosts tough Bryan College (12-3) at 1 p.m. Saturday at the YMCA Youth Sports Complex.
