WVU women top $10,000 in fundraiser

MORGANTOWN — The West Virginia University women’s soccer team raised more than $10,000 this spring in its efforts to help fight breast cancer.

On March 2, more than 60 teams competed in the “Three’s a Team? The Fourth’s a Mountaineer” all-day event at the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility. The tournament was open to boys and girls in grades three through eight, and featured an open division for college-age and older groups.

WVU also played a game against Purdue, the defending Big Ten champion, in the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Soccer Invitational on April 13 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

All of the money raised throughout the spring, $10,132.30 in total, went directly to the Betty Puskar Breast Cancer Fund at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center.
