PREP BASEBALL

Liberty 16, Westside 11, 9 innings

Jacob Shea had three hits, including a double and a home run and drove in seven runs as Liberty eliminated Westside in sectional baseball action Wednesday.

Jeff Wills and Michael Muovich added three hits each to the 17-hit Raiders’ attack.

Cameron Brown and Austin Steffey had three hits each for the Renegades.

Liberty plays Wyoming East today in the sectional title game at 6 p.m.

Oak Hill 3, Shady Spring 2

Frankie McGraw hit a three-run home run in the first as the Red Devils eliminated Shady Spring in sectional action Wednesay.

Oak Hill will face Independence in the sectional final today at 6 p.m. and must beat the Patriots twice to advance.



PikeView 4, Summers County 3

HINTON — Zackary Atkinson went 2-for-3 with a triple to lead PikeView past Summers County at the Class AA Region 3, Section 2 tournament.

Joey Church returned from an injury to pitch the final two innings for the Panthers giving up just one hit and striking out four.

Brandon Plumley pitched a complete game striking out 11 and homered for Summers County (5-18).

PikeView and James Monroe meet at 6 p.m. today in Hinton for the section title.

Richwood won the opener 10-7 behind the pitching of Keenan Braisher.

The two teams will square off in the championship game today at 5 p.m.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Tennessee Wesleyan’s Lacy Williams raced home on Ashton Burrell’s single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh in the NAIA Region XII Tournament at Indiana University Southeast.

Mountain State was limited to four singles in the loss to No. 6 seed Tennessee Wesleyan.

Mountain State plays No. 1 seed Milligan College today at 10 a.m. in an elimination game.
