Lewisburg native Seth McClung will be on the Milwaukee Brewers’ opening-day roster, a Milwaukee newspaper reported Tuesday.
McClung will be work long relief, the Journal-Sentinel reported on its Web site.
“He’s a big, strong, durable guy,” Brewers manager Ned Yost was quoted. “At times he struggles to command the ball but not (to) where he gets hammered. But his pitch counts get high.
“He fits nicely at the back end of the bullpen. He can pitch in middle and long relief.”
McClung, a 1999 Greenbrier East graduate, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with the first pick of the fifth round that year. He had stints with the big league team and the minors.
The Rays traded him to the Brewers last July.
