RICHWOOD — Alex Preast no-hit Richwood through five innings, striking out eight and walking three, before the game was called because of snow.
Drew Weis had two hits and two RBIs for the Pirates
Fayetteville plays at 4:30 p.m. today at Meadow Bridge.
Valley 15, Meadow Bridge 1, 5 innings
MEADOW BRIDGE — Valley’s Jonathan Taylor and Josh Thompson combined for eight strikeouts in a five-inning one-hitter.
Thompson doubled and tripled for the Greyhounds (4-0), while Taylor drove in three runs. Kevin Talerico, Andrew Johnson and Dillon Ganoe each drove in a pair.
Travis Sheaves had the Wildcats’ lone hit.
Valley visits Greenbrier West today while Meadow Bridge (0-2) hosts Fayetteville.
PREP SOFTBALL
Oak Hill 13, Summers County 2, 6 innings
HINTON — Lindsay Smith went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI as Oak Hill defeated host Summers County.
Desi Hughes and Shanequa Pankey also were 3-for-4 for the Red Devils (6-0), who host Midland Trail at 5:30 p.m. today.
Green County Tech (Ark.) 6, Nicholas County 1
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Morgan Elswick doubled and Ashley Neff went 2-for-3 in a losing cause for Nicholas County at the Grand Strand Softball Classic.
The Grizzlies (3-2) take on Pageland, S.C., at 12:30 p.m. today.

WVU cruises by Coppin State
MORGANTOWN — West Virginia scored 26 runs on 27 hits and 23 RBIs, including four home runs — all season highs — in a 26-3 blowout of Coppin State on Monday afternoon at Hawley Field. The 23-run margin of victory ties for the eighth highest this season nationally.
The Mountaineers stretched their winning streak to nine, which currently ties for the fourth longest in the country.
Freshman Jedd Gyorko hit two home runs and recorded five RBIs, while sophomore Vince Belnome had four hits and finished with a career-best five RBIs to lead the West Virginia attack.
Right-handed pitcher Jarryd Summers (2-2) picked up his second win of the season, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out six and walking two in six innings of work from the mound.
Coppin State (2-22) collected four hits and committed three errors in a game that ended in the seventh inning under the 10-run mercy rule.
WVU (17-4, 3-0) will play Morehead State in a doubleheader today at Hawley Field, starting at 1 p.m.
