MARIETTA, Ga. — An extended stay down south proved successful for Mountain State University.
The NAIA Division I No. 3 Cougars followed up Thursday’s win at Morris (S.C.) with a 106-102 win over Life University on Saturday.
Five players scored in double figures for MSU (18-2), led by Nick Aldridge’s 26 points. Andrew Lee and A.J. Pigram scored 21 each, Tony Brown had 14 and Marcus Hunter 12. Aldridge also had eight rebounds.
Life got 23 from Ken Moore, 20 from Tay Barber, 14 from Greg Brown and 10 from Jaquan Bray.
MSU led 48-44 at halftime and was up 101-86 with 2:32 to go when Life exploded, but it was too late.
“It was exciting to go on a long road trip and get two wins,” Cougars coach Bob Bolen said. “Life is a good team. This was a great win.”
The Cougars hit the road again this week, playing at Voorhees (S.C.) at 7 p.m. Wednesday. MSU returns home next Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip-off with Crichton.
